Haya-Lea Detinko -- Wie Ich Stalins Gulag Überlebte

Haya-Lea wurde in der damals in Ostpolen gelegenen Stadt Riwne (Rovno) geboren. Heute gehört diese Stadt zur Ukraine. Haya-Lea wurde traditionell jüdisch erzogen, und als Jugendliche schloss sie sich der zionistischen Jugendorganisation Hashomer Hatzair an und wollte wie ihre ältere Schwester nach Palästina auswandern. Aber 1939 marschierte die Sowjetunion in Ostpolen ein, und Haya-Lea wurde aufgrund ihrer Mitgliedschaft in Hashomer Hatzair zu 10 Jahren Zwangsarbeit in Sibirien verurteilt. Der Rest der Familie blieb zurück, nicht ahnend, dass bald deutsche Truppen die Stadt einnehmen würden.
Haya-Lea überlebte den Gulag und zog nach Leningrad (heute St. Petersburg), wo sie 2002 ihre Lebensgeschichte mit Centropa teilte. Dieser Film ist Haya-Lea gewidmet, die kurz nach dem Interview verstarb.

Kindheit in Polen

Haya- Lea wuchs in der Stadt Rovno auf. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt gehörte Rovno zu Polen. Heute heißt diese Stadt Rivne und befindet sich in der Ukraine. Eine Übersicht über die Geschichte Polens findest du hier. 

Zweiter Weltkrieg

Die Zweite (Polnische) Republik endete, nachdem der Zweite Weltkrieg ausbrach. Am 1. September 1939  wurde Polen vom nationalsozialistischen Deutschen Reich angegriffen (Codename Fall Weiß). Am 17.9.1939 erfolgte der Einmarsch von sowjetischen Truppen in Ostpolen.

Lenin und Stalin

Die Februarrevolution des Jahres 1917 beendete die Zarenherrschaft in Russland, und ein neuer Staat – die Sowjetunion – wurde gegründet. Der letzte Zar Nikolaus II  musste im März 1917 abdanken, und eine provisorische Regierung wurde von der Duma (russisches Parlament) eingesetzt.

Gulag

Gulag (Glawnoje Uprawlenije Isprawitelno-trudowych Lagerej i kolonij) ist die Abkürzung für Hauptverwaltung der Besserungsarbeitslager und gleichbedeutend für ein umfassendes Untertdrückungssystem in der damaligen Sowjetunion, bestehend aus Zwangsarbeitslagern, Straflagern, Gefängnissen und Verbannungsorten. Das Gulagssystem befand sich großteils in Sibirien.

Polen

Das Verhältnis zwischen Juden und Polen nahm in der Vergangenheit viele Formen an. Das Königreich Polen wurde im 10. Jahrhundert gegründet und bis zur Gründung des Doppelstaats Polen-Litauen im Jahre 1569 galt Polen als einer der tolerantesten Staaten Europas. Deswegen existierte die größte und lebhafteste jüdische Gemeinde der Welt damals in Polen.
