Sephardic exhibiton in Macedonia

The Macedonian version of the Lost Sephardic World exhibition is on its way around Macedonia! It has been opened in Prilep, Bitola, and Stip. 

The Prilep exhibition was hosted by the Cultural Center “Marko Cepenkov”. Students of our Centropa teacher Robert Koneski told the Sephardic stories from Bitola, Belgrade, Dubrovnik, Split and Sarajevo to students, teachers, parents, school directors, representatives from the local authority, media representatives and other guests who attended the event. Opening speeches were made by the director of the Cultural Center “Marko Cepenkov” Mence Karadjoska, Maja Susa of the Holocaust Memorial Center for the Jews of Macedonia and our coordinator for Macedonia Daniela Shterjova. 

On the 5th of October, the exhibition was opened in Bitola by Goran Sadikario, Daniela Shterjeva Centropa coordinator, and Bojan Stefanovski, the director of the NI University Library of Bitola. 70 students, teachers and history lovers have taken part in the event. Special thanks to the beautiful music and dance performances of the students!

In Stip, the exhibition was opened on 25th October in the Cultural Center "Aco Sopov", with the students of the "Vanco Prke" primary school guiding the visitors through the Sephardic stories from Split, Dubrovnik, Belgrade, Sarajevo and Bitola. Special thanks to the students of "Dimitar Vlahov" primary school for their outstanding contribution to the event and our Centropa veteran teachers - Ljubinka Gjurova, Zaklina Georgieva and Marija Ivanova for making it all possible! Opening speeches by Trajce Kacarov of the Cultural Center, Liljana Lazerevska of the Holocaust Memorial Center for the Jews of Macedonia and our Centropa coordinator for Macedonia, Daniela Shterjova.
