Linka Isaeva with her grandchildren

This is me with my three grandchildren. The photo was taken in the 1980s on an excursion to the Stara Planina Mountain. Svilen, who is standing in the front, was born in 1978 in Sofia. He is my son Valeri's child. Roumen, to the left, was born in 1974 in Sofia. Yassen, to the right, was born in 1975 in Sofia. They are both my daughter Lidya's sons. We often used to go on mountain excursions together, especially to the Vitosha Mountain, which is near Sofia. Roumen and Yassen took a degree in geodesy from the Mine-Geological Institute in Sofia. They both work as geodesists now. Roumen recently married. Svilen, the youngest, is about to graduate from the Faculty of Law and currently works in a lawyer's office. My children were raised as Jews, but they are married to Bulgarians. They know everything about the war and what happened during the Holocaust. We celebrate Rosh Hashanah and Pesach. I celebrate Christmas with my son's family. We don't celebrate Easter. We keep the 'gastronomical' side of the Jewish traditions, and I have even handed them over to my daughter, who is also a master of Jewish specialties.
